About The Position

The Staff Scientist position at the University of Oklahoma is a full-time, nontenured role focused on managing a research laboratory. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.D. required.
  • 36 months of Postdoctoral Research Fellow experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge of the scientific field.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical papers and grant applications.
  • Advanced working knowledge of computers for data processing and analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle stressful situations and meet deadlines.

  • Teaching experience in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the research laboratory and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop and implement laboratory operational policies and procedures.
  • Set strategic goals for the lab and present them to the Principal Investigator.
  • Oversee new projects, including program analysis and potential funding sources.
  • Conduct independent research projects and assist in constructing tests.
  • Compile data and prepare research manuscripts for publication.
  • Conduct literature searches to stay current with research developments.
  • Collect and analyze data, drawing conclusions and documenting findings.
  • Present research results to researchers, committees, and at scientific meetings.
  • Supervise laboratory personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
