About The Position

We are currently searching for a Staff Scientist to conduct and manage original research in hematology, contributing to the mission of the Hematology Branch (HB). This includes delivering experimental data, scientific analyses, and publications aligned with NHLBI’s research goals. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD. Conduct original hematology research using both mouse models and human samples (healthy and patient-derived). Independently design, execute, and manage the scientific research projects and studies. Perform data analysis, including statistical interpretation and graphical representation. Ensure reproducibility of results through experimental replicates and validation studies. Work independently and as a part of collaborative team in performing the experiments. Maintain comprehensive laboratory records, including digital notebooks and organized electronic data files. Prepare and deliver scientific presentations in weekly lab meetings and annual branch reviews. Draft and revise the manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences. Conduct literature reviews and remain up to date on advances in the field. Adhere to all NIH safety and biosafety guidelines, including proper use and handling of animals and human samples.

Requirements

  • PhD
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in both in vitro and in vivo experiments using mouse models and human cell samples.
  • Proven track record of conducting state-of-the-art experimental techniques in flow cytometry.
  • Proficiency in coordinating multiple research projects in a fast-paced environment.
