About The Position

Trihydro has an opportunity for a Staff Scientist in our Laramie Headquarters or Lander, WY office. The successful candidate will join our Legacy Site Management team to provide clients across multiple industries with effective, responsive, and safe solutions. We are looking for candidates with experience or interest in ecological or biological science, restoration planning, and environmental compliance work. This full-time office-based position requires approximately 40-45 hours per week and involves a blend of field and office work. Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, soil science, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiar with the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains flora and plant identification.
  • Familiar with local, state, and federal environmental statutes and regulations.
  • Field Ready: comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions, remote locations, lifting up to 50 lbs., and traveling regionally (typically 30-50%).
  • Strong communication skills, a service mindset - able to interact professionally on client sites, with clients, regulatory professionals, and internal team.
  • Proficiency in data collection, field documentation, and basic data management.
  • Ability to operate 4WD vehicles in off-road conditions and willingness to travel during peak field seasons

Responsibilities

  • Own field execution and safety: prepare and follow site-specific Health & Safety Plans and Job Safety Analyses, conduct tailgate meetings, complete field logs, instrument calibrations, and decontamination procedures per Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Collect biological, water, soil, and botanical data across a range of project sites.
  • Manage data from field work to reporting, including chain-of-custody, data validation/QA/QC, tabulation, and interpretation.
  • Provide onsite client and contractor support, including contractor coordination, construction/restoration or reclamation oversight.
  • Draft clear deliverables, including ecological or biological field summaries, restoration plans, technical memoranda, and reports; contribute to work plans and cost estimates.
  • Conduct monitoring of sensitive plant and wildlife species and assist with environmental compliance tasks.
