Responsibilities

• Direct small, complex research projects or major aspects of larger research projects.
• Design research projects or sub-projects and contribute to writing research proposals.
• Prepare regulatory documentation required for research performance.
• Write protocols for conducting research, including study purposes, experimental design, materials, and activity schedules.
• Analyze and evaluate experimental data, interpreting results and assessing their importance.
• Prepare written reports on all phases of laboratory work involved in research projects.
• Contribute to the design, interpretation, and writing of research publications, meeting co-authorship expectations.
• Stay updated on trends in the field by reading current literature and attending scientific meetings.
• Develop and install operating procedures for the laboratory and operate complex equipment.
• Develop and modify test methods and select procedures for data collection and handling.
• Direct the gathering of research materials, supplies, and equipment, and coordinate service support.
• Interview, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, providing continuous skill development.
• Develop and control research project budgets in consultation with supervising faculty.
• Evaluate the performance of research equipment and make design changes as necessary.
