The position is responsible for the programmatic and operational management of the NIH-NHGRI-funded Diversity Center for Genome Research (DCGR). It involves collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI), project awardees, and students to set goals and timelines, ensuring the timely accomplishment of project tasks and goals with high quality. The role includes conducting genomics wet lab experiments, performing data analytics, and engaging with community stakeholders in genomics-related research.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the DCGR.
  • Ensure key equipment in DCGR-funded researcher labs is in good working condition and covered under service contracts.
  • Develop Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) for laboratories.
  • Conduct genomics wet lab experiments and perform data analytics.
  • Compile and interpret data, and write manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assist in developing new data-driven hypotheses to address health disparities.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure labs are fully stocked.
  • Participate in sample labeling, processing, and storage with the biorepository staff.
  • Engage community stakeholders in genomics research through the Community Engagement Core.
  • Participate in student recruitment and training efforts.
  • Teach students and research participants about study objectives and equipment use.
  • Monitor adherence to study rules among student research participants and collaborating faculty.
  • Lead activities to convene a community advisory board and develop training materials.
  • Prepare, submit, and track protocols and related documents for oversight groups.
  • Participate in electronic data entry and assist in data quality review.
  • Oversee research program implementation, data collection, and timelines.
  • Support PIs and Co-Is in writing grant submissions and teaching students in abstract submissions.
  • Coordinate program activities including advisory committee meetings and annual retreats.
  • Doctor's Degree (Ph.D or D.Phil) in Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biomedical sciences, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral laboratory research experience in Genomics, Cancer Biology, Immunology, or Microbiology.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in standard software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Experience in community engagement in research settings.
  • Familiarity with NIH policies and guidelines.
  • Experience in training workshops for students and junior faculty.
