About The Position

H2M Architects + Engineers is seeking a full-time Staff Scientist to assist with environmental assessments, including asbestos and mold surveys, water damage assessments, and other environmental hazard surveys. The role involves sampling, testing, inspections, and communication with clients and project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
• 0 to 4 years of experience in the environmental consulting field, specifically industrial hygiene.
• Current NYSDOL Asbestos certifications: Asbestos Inspector, Project Monitor, Air Sampling Technician, Project Designer.
• Current NYSDOL Mold certification: Mold Assessor.
• Lead EPA lead inspector/risk assessor certification (a plus).
• NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator certification (a plus).
• IICRC certifications (a plus).
• Strong technical skills including field expertise and knowledge of architectural drawings.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience dealing with contractors and ensuring compliance with state and city agencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform asbestos and/or mold surveys on residential and commercial buildings.
• Provide project monitoring and air sampling, ensuring compliance with on-site field protocols such as chain of custody forms and daily logs.
• Conduct analysis tabulation, review, evaluation, and report writing.
• Assist with lead and other indoor air quality testing.
• Communicate project updates and relevant information with project team and clients.
