We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Formulation Scientist to join our innovative Science and Technology research team at Corning. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented scientist with a strong foundation in formulation science to contribute to the development of advanced materials and processes for inks, adhesives, and coatings. Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Adhesion Science, or a related field.
  • 2-5+ years of industrial experience in polymer formulation, development, or research.
  • Expertise in polymer chemistry, including thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, and composite materials.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and characterizing formulations for inks, adhesives, and/or coatings.
  • Strong experimental design and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and solve complex problems.
  • Knowledge of formulation additives (e.g., plasticizers, fillers, stabilizers) and their impact on performance.
  • Excellent communication skills to present findings to multidisciplinary teams.
  • High level of precision and attention to detail in both laboratory work and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design, synthesize, and characterize organic formulations for inks, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Optimize polymer formulations to meet specific application requirements.
  • Develop and evaluate new functional materials, leveraging a strong understanding of polymer chemistry and structure-property relationships.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of experimental results and propose data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary scientific and engineering teams to integrate formulations into innovative products.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of experiments, observations, and findings.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to the development of innovative approaches.
