About The Position

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm with offices in NY & NJ seeks an Environmental Scientist to join our team. This position will have a strong focus on soil and groundwater sampling, subsurface delineations, environmental spill response and remedial activities, and some asbestos monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related discipline required.
  • Must have at least 2 years of related environmental experience
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Ability to drive to and from jobsites as necessary + transporting equipment necessary to perform field activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory.
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • As part of your role, you may be required to work in environments where the use of a respirator is necessary. In such cases, H2M will provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations. Therefore, you will be required to participate in any necessary respirator fit testing, training, and medical evaluations in accordance with OSHA standards and company policy.
  • Travel is required for this position, and you may be required to use your own vehicle for work related travel including travel to and from job sites if an H2M vehicle is not available.
  • Due to the nature of the position, it is expected that you are able to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • 40 Hr. Hazwoper training highly desirable (but not required).
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License, or Air Monitor license desirable (but not required).
  • Ability to work nights and weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Soil, groundwater and air sampling
  • Coordinate and oversee soil borings and monitoring well installation
  • Provide remediation oversight
  • Perform asbestos and lead paint sampling
  • Assist in data management and evaluation and preparation of technical reports
  • Communicating with a project team and interaction with clients and subcontractors
  • Corresponding with regulatory agencies
  • Development of work plans and report writing
  • Other duties as assigned
