Staff Schedulers input master schedule for patient care units. Finalizes and distributes schedules for each care unit. Communicates Observation Partner schedules to Nursing House Supervisors. Responsibilities

  • Answers telephone and takes messages appropriately.
  • Archive and retrieve patient care division floor rosters and Nursing Supervisor roster reports on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborates with patient care leadership to allocate, adjust and assure alternative coverage of staff resources, including Observation Assistance coverage. Assists the Nursing Supervisor and Nursing Leadership with calling in staff as requested.
  • Collaborates with patient care leadership to make changes to master schedule as requested.
  • Compares patient care division rosters with Nursing House Officer roster report and inputs any shift change into the scheduling system.
  • Coordinates all equipment and supply acquisition and coordinates all maintenance requests for the department.
  • Ensures timely and accurate communication with and between patient care leadership, staff and other customers.
  • Finalizes and distributes schedules for each patient care unit to patient care leaders and managers/directors. Updates master schedule and daily rosters (Daily Staffing Analysis/Flow Sheets) as changes occur to document actual daily staffing.
  • Greets patients and visitors and directs them to the proper location.
  • Inputs master staff schedule for patient care units.
  • Maintains accurate records regarding staffing totals, shift preferences, availabilities, unit competencies, holiday plans, and weekend absences of patient care services personnel.
  • Maintains records on bonus programs offered to the nursing division.
  • Receives, sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Supports responsible staffing based on patient care volume and acuity.
