Role description: Arcadis seeks a Staff Roadway Design Engineer to join our team in Tampa, FL. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team locally with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. In this position you will utilize your technical knowledge as part of our local project team, developing innovative solutions throughout the national market. Role accountabilities: As a Staff Roadway Design Engineer, you will assist the development and design of infrastructure projects for roadways, including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates and interstate interchanges. You may also have the opportunity to perform different roles on multi-disciplined projects including planning, technical design of minor project, production lead, task leader and assisting Project Manager and lead engineers. Project development working as an individual or through team efforts to assist in developing project scopes and budgets, interfacing with and maintenance of client needs for the Project Manager, mentoring and development of junior staff and design/drafters, development of project plans and maintaining project schedules and ensuring project compliance with all Arcadis practices including quality and safety standards.

  • Assist the development and design of infrastructure projects for roadways, including intersections, collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates and interstate interchanges.
  • Perform different roles on multi-disciplined projects including planning, technical design of minor project, production lead, task leader and assisting Project Manager and lead engineers.
  • Assist in developing project scopes and budgets, interfacing with and maintenance of client needs for the Project Manager, mentoring and development of junior staff and design/drafters, development of project plans and maintaining project schedules and ensuring project compliance with all Arcadis practices including quality and safety standards.
  • 4+ years’ work experience which includes experience on FDOT projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT
  • Planning and/or Engineering experience with infrastructure, which may include environmental document preparation, cost estimates, technical reports, construction plans and project displays.
  • Proficiency with CAD particularly Microstation and OpenRoads.
  • Familiarity with FDOT design standards and policies.
  • Interpersonal and client-facing requirements will require someone with excellent, clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to contribute information to meetings, assist with effective client presentations and prepare written reports and meeting minutes.
  • Must have the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously.
  • You should also have strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills and be a self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual who possesses the initiative and ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
  • Working towards Florida PE
  • OpenRoads Designer(3D) experience highly desirable
  • Prefer experience in a client-facing role, either as a team or individual, making presentations and managing client expectations.

  • The salary range for this position is $90916 - $112509. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
