About The Position

Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is a 352-bed acute care hospital, nationally recognized and accredited, offering a range of services including a Center for Cancer, surgical and orthopedic services, and a Cardiology program. The health system also includes a Medical Group, urgent care clinics, and primary care clinics. The Staff RN is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting
• Must be able to communicate in English (Speak, Write)
• Current and valid Nevada RN License
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS (AHA) certification required
• PALS (AHA) certification required

Nice To Haves

• E.R. setting preferred
• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification within 12 months of hire preferred
• ENA (Emergency Nurse Association) membership within 12 months of hire preferred
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification within 24 months of hire preferred

Responsibilities

• Directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department
• Communicate with the physician about the changes in the patients’ clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
• Recognizes life threatening situation/ changes in conditions and/or responses to treatment quickly and accurately responds
• Maintains accurate and relevant record of all patient care
• Knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies
• Actively participating in cost containment and assisting in accurate charging for patient services
