About The Position
The Staff RN IV at Torrance Memorial Medical Center is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Med/Surg ICU. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on established medical and nursing protocols. The Staff RN IV is expected to provide individualized care that meets the unique needs of each patient, ensuring adherence to infection prevention guidelines and compliance with organizational policies and standards. The position requires effective communication with patients, families, and medical staff throughout the continuum of care, ensuring that all parties are informed and involved in the treatment process. In addition to direct patient care, the Staff RN IV participates in various organizational activities, including peer reviews and professional development initiatives. This role also involves educating patients and their families about care plans and health management, utilizing critical thinking skills to adapt care plans as necessary. The Staff RN IV is expected to maintain regulatory compliance and contribute to the unit's quality improvement goals, aligning with the Magnet Model of nursing excellence. The position requires the ability to monitor patients receiving thrombolytic agents and administer vasoactive drugs, antiarrhythmic medications, and other critical care interventions. Advanced skills in neurological assessment and the management of neurological devices are also essential, with expectations for proficiency within the first year of employment. The Staff RN IV must demonstrate a commitment to safe patient handling and the economical use of resources while providing high-quality nursing care.
