About The Position

The Float Pool RN performs therapeutic nursing interventions and manages the care of patients with conditions common to the various units assigned including, but not limited to: general surgical patients including outpatient surgicals; medical patients including infant to geriatric populations; critically ill patients; neurological patients; renal patients; oncology patients; cardiovascular patients; pediatric patients; subacute and rehab patients; altered mental status patients; orthopedic patients; and OB/gyn patients with the exception of labor and delivery or newborn nursery. Orientation specific to general medical/surgical floors, intensive care units, emergency department, mother/baby, and/or mental health areas will be provided based on areas the employee will be working. Additionally float personnel working in the ICU and PCU areas will be required to complete modified ECCO curriculum, PCU hemodynamic monitoring, EKG monitoring and ACLS. The Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for meeting patient's priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care and evaluating patients' responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. The Staff RN contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, preceptoring and/or resourcing of others. The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act.
• Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse is recommended.

• Documents patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
• Provides care in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Facilitates patient's transition to the next level of care.
• Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.
