Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing required or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required.
  • Experience with pediatric patients preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a float pool preferred.
  • Previous experience with EPIC preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.
  • Health Services/BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days required.

Nice To Haves

  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
  • Current and valid certification in nursing specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to NICU/PICU/Med-Surg pediatric patients/families.
  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined unit scope and nursing practice standards.
  • Collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients.
  • Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery style.
  • Identifies nursing diagnoses, collaborative problems, and/or protocols for each patient.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using CPG/ND’s and practice guidelines/protocols.
  • Implements and evaluates nursing actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care.
  • Oversees that the nursing and interdisciplinary plan of care/goals are coordinated, implemented, evaluated, and revised as needed.
  • Incorporates critical thinking into the delivery of clinical skills.
  • Provides and/or coordinates with other disciplines patient/family education according to identified care needs.
  • Completes computerized documentation within established timeframes.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.
  • Accepts assignment to mentor student nurse observation experience in unit.
  • Professionally seeks opportunities to help teammates during shift as needed.
