About The Position

The Staff RN uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting. Nursing care is based on the interpretation and execution of the medical and nursing plan of treatment utilizing established procedures standards and protocols of individuals within the assigned work shift. The Staff RN provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.

Requirements

  • College Diploma
  • 2 years of experience
  • Registered Nurse License
  • BCLS or ACLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Confirms order for cardiac teaching; provides appropriate cardiac teaching and materials and assists with ambulating as needed.
  • Completes appropriate documentation of cardiac rehabilitation orientation of each patient and appropriately documents each session.
  • Documents patient information in appropriate clinical format in Cardiac Rehab and completes in a timely manner, ie Medicare reports, patient charts.
  • Interprets cardiac rhythms and provide appropriate intervention.
  • Maintain certification in: Basic Cardiac Life Support , Advanced Cardiac Life Support and mandatory education to include fire/electrical safety, infection control, etc.
  • Patient/Family Involvement - Provides cardiac education to support the patient and family understanding of CAD and recovery in order to reduce risk factors.
  • Provides all services of Cardiac Rehabilitation Program to adult patients.
  • Works with MD to provide for Cardiac Rehab, Physical Therapy, Dietary and/or Respiratory Therapy when needed.
  • Leads, monitors, and supervises a wide range of individual and group and therapeutic exercise sessions appropriate to patients who represent the full range of risk strata.
  • Patient Care: Phase II - Conducts initial interviews and organizes and monitors exercise therapy.
  • Provides education and materials, including but not limited to, nutrition, exercise, stress, blood pressure, and other areas of self care.
  • Participates in Emergency Management/Disaster planning safety exercises to ensure appropriate care and treatment is provided for our pediatric population during a disaster.
  • Refers patient's for diabetics educator, dietitian, respiratory therapist, and other support groups as needed
