Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of nursing Required.
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience Required.
  • Experience with pediatric patients Preferred.
  • Previous experience with EPIC Preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure current and valid in the state of Nebraska Upon Hire Required.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (except NICU) within 180 Days Required.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation (NICU only) within 180 Days Required.
  • ACLS within 9 months of hire (Cath Lab and ED only) Required.
  • ENPC - Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ED only) within 1 Year Required.
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course (ED only) within 1 Year Required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to patients/families through the use of the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with standards and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to defined unit scope and nursing practice standards.
  • Collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients.
  • Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery style.
  • Identifies nursing diagnoses, collaborative problems, and/or protocols for each patient.
  • Performs reassessment based on unit standards and changes in patient condition.
  • Schedules cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures with patient family.
  • Obtains permits for catheterization procedures after teaching patient/family about procedure and related complications.
  • Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using CPG/ND’s, and practice guidelines/protocols.
  • Implements and evaluates nursing actions in accordance with the individualized patient/family plan of care.
  • Documents accurate assessment/evaluation, modification, and patient’s response to therapy.
  • Completes computerized documentation within established timeframes.
  • Assists FCC Coordinator in arranging and coordinating appointments prior to the delivery process.
  • Mentors student nurse observation experience in unit.
  • Professionally seeks opportunities to help teammates during shift.
