About The Position

Provides Staff Ride support for the Combined Arms Center, Leavenworth KS. Develops and conducts historic Staff Rides for Military Students.

Requirements

• Must have an active Secret security clearance
• Must be a US citizen
• Must possess a master's degree in History or a related field
• Must have experience advising and evaluating students using the adult learning model
• Possess ability to navigate using maps in both the field and virtual environment
• Completed education at a Military Education Level (MEL) IV
• Possess and maintain a working knowledge of current Army and Joint doctrine
• Must be familiar with use of Student Management Systems, Blackboard Content Management System, and Scheduling Systems
• Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Suite of products and Adobe Acrobat Professional in order to create/update visual aids and instructor notes
• Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
• Must be able to carry up to 15 pounds over five miles of rough, uneven terrain and be physically able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Conducts on site and virtual staff rides for durations of one to five days at various sites
• Creates or updates preliminary study materials tailored to specific training requirements of organizations and disseminate to participants in preparation for field phase of staff ride
• Conducts on site and virtual field studies that address terrain and historical time orientation, events that occurred, and an analysis of the decisions and actions that occurred
• Facilitates post field study discussion related to current Army and Joint Doctrine
• Builds and/or revises staff rides, to include writing staff ride handbooks
• Responds to queries regarding military history, researching as required
• Completes administrative requirements related to instruction and grading of students
• Travels as needed to support development and delivery of staff rides
