About The Position

The Staff Research Scientist will work in the productive environment of a federal and privately funded laboratory focused on the development of innovative cell and gene therapies for the treatment of inflammation and cancers, using immune- and virus-based approaches. The incumbent will have a solid knowledge in molecular biology, cloning, and tissue culture. The incumbent will conduct research mostly independently, participate in the design of experiments, analyze data, and may contribute to manuscripts.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related field required.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR, CRISPR, Western blotting, mammalian cell culture, and work with animal models

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments of molecular biology and virology, analyze data, formulate conclusions, and create appropriate statistical visualizations (such as graphs and charts) for the purpose of reporting research/laboratory results.
  • Independently process and deliver presentations of scientific data.
  • Independently drive research projects, contribute original ideas, and work effectively within an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Educate, train, and supervise new students and other research staff that assist on the project.
  • Meet regularly with Principal Investigator (PI) and colleagues to review lab data, troubleshoot problems, prioritize tasks, and discuss newly published scientific literature relevant to the cell and gene therapy field
