About The Position

The Staff Research Associate position at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a part-time role within the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI). The primary focus of this position is to assist in understanding the molecular mechanisms of cell-cell signaling in development and diseases. Under supervision, the individual will be responsible for genotyping mice, which is essential for managing the mouse colony. This role requires proficiency in molecular biology techniques, particularly Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis of nucleic acids, and the preparation and manipulation of DNA. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory staff to ensure the smooth operation of the lab, which includes maintaining adequate supplies and ensuring equipment is operational. The CVRI is the largest organized research unit on the UCSF campus, dedicated to promoting fundamental and clinical research on cardiovascular and pulmonary respiratory systems. With a robust team of over 200 faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows, the institute supports a diverse range of research activities and provides training opportunities in these critical fields.
