About The Position
The Ahituv lab seeks an entry-level Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) to support a laboratory that focuses on understanding the role of regulatory sequences in biology and disease. In this position, he/she will be an integral member of a research team that investigates gene regulatory elements and their relationship to human diversity and disease. The responsibilities include assisting lab members with the maintenance of mouse lines and molecular biology-related experiments. This includes monitoring and breeding the mouse, genotyping and carrying out various molecular biology experiments to characterize them. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $28.12 - $33.57 (Hourly Rate). Requirements
- BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Laboratory research experience
- Practical knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sound research methods and data collection and analysis
- Ability to learn complex tasks with general instruction.
- Able to use experience to perform a variety of new techniques.
