About The Position

The Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging is looking for a motivated Staff Research Associate to oversee setting up, maintaining, treating, and analyzing animal models of autoimmune diseases and cancer; for performing PET molecular imaging experiments and analyses; for performing fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) and mass cytometry studies; and for performing standard cell culture experiments. In this role, you will also be responsible for ordering supplies and materials as necessary, maintaining lab equipment, maintaining meticulous laboratory records, presenting and writing reports, and performing other general lab duties. Target hourly rate: $27.85-$33.21

Requirements

  • Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, etc
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students
  • Ability to follow through on assignments
  • Strong organizational skills in order to set priorities to complete work in a timely manner and to adapt to frequent changes in fluctuating workload
  • Ability to keep laboratory space clean, organized, and ready for future tasks and experiments
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed and accurate records
  • Ability to work comfortably with mice
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary
  • Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form
  • Ability to carefully handle radioactivity according to UCLA Radiation Safety protocols
  • Ability to follow laboratory safety regulations and requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
  • Familiarity with techniques including fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) and mammalian cell culture
  • Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
