About The Position

The position involves conducting ongoing research projects and may serve as a functional lead to other research staff. The role includes conducting research and laboratory analysis, participating in clinical research projects, collecting various forms of data, and preparing reports for publication. The individual will also supervise a staff of research assistants and technicians, responsible for hiring, training, and conducting performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 48 months of research laboratory experience as a research technician or assistant.
  • Will accept 48 months of research laboratory experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 96 months of research experience.
  • Working knowledge of how to safely handle or dispose of biohazardous materials or chemicals following regulations.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to analyze data and keep records.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to supervise.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and laboratory analysis for research staff, including measuring and weighing compounds and solutions, isolating, identifying, and preparing specimens, and collecting samples.
  • Participates in clinical research projects collecting data from patients and/or participants.
  • Collects various forms of data pertaining to research projects, including database information and hard files.
  • Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses findings with the principal investigator.
  • Keeps detailed logs of all research-related projects or activities.
  • Conducts literature searches.
  • Prepares reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content for publication.
  • Constructs tests or assists in the construction of tests and designs research studies.
  • Collaborates with other researchers or colleagues.
  • Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and the Principal Investigator.
  • Supervises a staff of research assistants and technicians, including hiring, training, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing work.
