From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees. Job overview and responsibilities The Staff Representative – Workers' Compensation Transitional Duty is responsible for conducting comprehensive vocational evaluations and making recommendations on employee placement in viable available positions in their respective areas. Responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and administering the records program for the Transitional Duty (TD) program under their direction. Responsible for supervising and managing limited department operations and managing the function through utilization review as required by company policies and/or programs. The TDS works with each division, department and individuals for placement in appropriate temporary positions. The major areas covered are planning, organizing, development, implementation, coordinating, training, and employee services for TD benefits, safety and health. Originates TD practices and objectives that will provide a balanced program throughout all divisions. This position directs effective and efficient delivery of services and benefits to trainees, clients, vendors, employees and staff. Oversees the coordination of designated vendor relationships, staff and administrative/operational areas. Coordinates implementation through Workers’ Compensation and Managed Care (WC&MC) staff.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree, High school diploma, or GED
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation injury management, Absence Management and/or Transitional Duty
  • 1+ years prior experience leading others, preferably in some TD or work hardening program/system
  • Affiliations with successful companies who practice effective WC&MC programs and Transitional Duty management
  • Generalist background with broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, training and development, w ell-developed administrative skills, s trong management and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of the workers’ Compensation Act, applicable state/federal statutes and regulations
  • Organizational Relationships: Advises, consults and coordinates with: Senior Management: organizational plans, company police, legal issues, divisional trends and results Transitional Duty Managers, Medical Program Managers, Claims Managers, and Vendors: continual support and delivery of services to leadership and employees we support
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Responsibilities

  • Assesses employee/patient aptitudes, interests, abilities and limitations using position descriptions, medical orders, real and or simulated work tasks and observations
  • Administers records, interprets and reports on accumulative work-evaluation data
  • Responsible for the distribution in changes of workloads, hours, salary adjustments and evaluation of employees without prejudice
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting WC&MP’s functions, m onitors exposure of the company, d irects the preparation of information requested or required for compliance, a pproves all information submitted
  • Assists/places employees on occupational injury (OJI) into TD positions
  • Record and track all OJI injuries where an employee is not returned to full duty status
  • Liaison between claims administrator and Continental work groups in placement of employee, status and return to full duty
  • Serves as Regional contact providing field support for various assigned outstations
  • Protects interests of the employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations
  • Prepares monthly evaluation reports, interprets and case-recording documents
  • Assists departments, divisions and individuals in gaining insight into their roles in establishing vocational/transitional duty plans or assignments
  • Responsible for compiling statistical information and ancillary services to demonstrate appropriate placement, trends and achievements to business partners as assigned or requested
  • Formulates and recommends TD policies and objectives for respective areas
  • Participates in department, division, and individual evaluations and team meetings
  • Provides training to Hub Business office and outstation managers / supervisors
  • Supervises and monitors the release of confidential information in accordance with rules and regulations, federal regulations and state statues of privileged information for request from outside agencies or third party administers
  • Assist with organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design and manpower forecasting when and where appropriate. Evaluates plans and changes plans when needed via recommendations to senior leadership
