The Staff Remanufacturing Engineer of Quality position at Rivian will support Remanufacturing Operation (Battery, Drive Unit and Power Electronics) via accentuating and iterating on the current Peer Quality, and Engineering Solutions program. The position is hands-on, requires broad experience, data collection/analysis, the ability to teach quality disciplines to Technicians, and work with engineers to build solutions that administrative measures do not solve. Our Staff Remanufacturing Engineer, Quality will report into our Director, Remanufacturing Service. You will be expected to work on-site at our facility based in Shepherdsville, KY.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or Technical related degree
  • 6+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Experience with Supplier Quality Systems Audits, Control Plans, PPM’s monthly tracking, PPAP
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • High proficiency in computer technology and systems operations
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) experience
  • 8D or similar method problem solving experience
  • Manufacturing/assembly process experience
  • High proficiency with DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans
  • Basic understanding of Metrology (measuring equipment)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and development of tracking charts or electronic methods
  • Good electronic communication software skills (Google Suite, MS Office)
  • Shift Flexibility Needed – There will be a need to audit 1st and 2nd shift compliance to standards
  • Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day
  • Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to travel 20%

  • 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop inspection methods with corresponding data gathering/tracking (manual whenever machine generated is not an option), to insure conformity to the production process and drive improvement.
  • Perform hands on audits of individual operation.
  • Audit and qualify engineering solutions.
  • Teach basic quality principles to a team of technicians with the goal of measurably improving workmanship.
  • Collaborate with Technicians and Engineers to develop conformity in each element/process to insure predictability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to build solutions and Poke Yoke’s when administrative measures result in unpredictability.
  • Improve product/process quality by defining/implementing recommendations for change.
  • Work cross functionally with relevant teams and departments (Design-End of Life) to improve products/process.
  • Ensure products/process adhere to company and industry quality standard.
  • Monitor and drive systematic solutions through Rivian Quality Framework.
  • Ability to concisely report daily metrics impacting quality.
