The Infusion Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients receiving intravenous therapies in an outpatient or inpatient infusion setting. This role is responsible for assessing patient needs, initiating and monitoring IV infusions, managing central and peripheral access devices, and responding to infusion-related reactions or complications. The RN collaborates with clinicians, pharmacists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe and accurate administration of medications, including biologics, antibiotics, hydration, blood products, and specialty treatments. The nurse also provides patient education regarding treatment plans, expected side effects, and self-care, while maintaining detailed documentation and adhering to strict safety and infection-control standards. Strong critical-thinking skills, proficiency in IV therapy, and the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care are essential in this role. The Infusion Department provides safe, efficient, and patient-centered infusion therapy services to individuals requiring intravenous or injectable treatments.
