Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Orthopedics for a nursing job in Grapevine, Texas. Our Medical/Surgical Orthopedics unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our Medical/Surgical Orthopedics leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member. The patient population includes surgical (orthopedic, neurosurgery, colorectal, gynecological, urology, plastics, bariatrics, general surgery, trauma), medical-cellulitis, SBO, AMS, GI, hospice, and diabetes. The patient ratios are 1:5 with a total of 40 beds in the department. The unit is diverse, team-oriented, and promotes collaboration across all disciplines, with self-scheduling and a Magnet Designation with an active unit shared governance structure. This position is full-time nights, from 7pm to 7am.

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Adjust care plans to reach desired outcomes.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Program in nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • 2.5 years of RN experience.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
