Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science or a related engineering or science discipline
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant packaging engineering experience within the medical device or regulated industry environment, or an advanced degree with equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing sterile and non sterile medical device packaging systems
  • Working knowledge of ISO, ASTM and ISTA test methods and regulatory requirements related to packaging
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and documentation skills with experience using tools such as SolidWorks and Minitab
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and communicate clearly at multiple levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing sterile and non sterile packaging systems for new product development and existing product lines from concept through design transfer and production
  • Providing technical packaging expertise and support to cross functional teams including R and D, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing and Operations
  • Defining packaging design inputs and requirements using voice of customer insights and applicable regulatory and industry standards including ISO 11607
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring packaging projects, including schedules, progress updates and technical documentation
  • Developing and executing packaging feasibility studies, design verification activities and validation documentation
  • Supporting packaging sustaining activities, including engineering change requests and implementation of design changes
  • Working closely with packaging suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to lower level engineers and contributing to packaging related business initiatives
