About The Position

The Staff Psychologist at Tarleton State University will provide psychological, psycho-educational, and neuropsychological testing for children and adolescents, supporting their mental health and development. This role involves conducting multiculturally competent mental health counseling and outreach, supervising student trainees, and participating in continuing education and professional development activities. The position is based in the Tarleton Center for Child Well-being and is a 10-month in-office role with potential remote work as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed Psychological Associate: A graduate degree in psychology with at least 60 semester credit hours, including 6 semester credit hours of practicum or internship under supervision.
  • Passage of the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology and the Jurisprudence Examination.
  • Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists License as a Psychological Associate.
  • Psychologist I: A doctoral degree in psychology, passage of the required examinations, and a minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience in a formal internship.
  • Psychologist II: A doctoral degree in psychology, passage of the required examinations, and a minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience both during and after the doctoral program.
  • Psychologist III: A doctoral degree in psychology, passage of the required examinations, a minimum of 1,750 hours of supervised experience, and five years of post-licensure experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychological activities and programs.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations and diagnose clients.
  • Counsel clients and provide consultation and training on therapy sessions.
  • Conduct psychological research.
  • Supervise assigned student trainees and provide clinical supervision to student interns if appropriately licensed.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities related to job functions and maintenance of skills.
  • Evaluate and pursue opportunities for research, grant acquisition, and instruction.
