About The Position

California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking Psychiatrists currently employed with the state of California who are interested in additional appointments to provide coverage in a part-time capacity, up to 40 hours per month. These uncommon positions are available to all clinical social workers currently employed by the State of California. Due to the nature of these dual appointments, the only stipulation is that the additional appointment must be a distinctly different role than your primary job, and you cannot be a supervisor, manager, or executive. Onsite dual appointments at your primary institution may be available.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid certificate in psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
• Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric care to inmates at Kern Valley State Prison.
• Work part-time, up to 40 hours per month, outside of normal hours.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department and with other governmental agencies.

Benefits

• Hourly rate of $169.49 - $174.40.
• Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
