About The Position

Qualcomm Government Technologies (QGOV) partners with the U.S. Government to bring the latest in new and innovative commercial technologies to government use cases. QGOV is seeking a results-oriented Staff Product Manager to manage multiple products and technology areas as part of highly strategic, complex government programs. The ideal candidate is an outstanding team player, self-starter, and can thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced technical environment. This individual has both a Product Management and technical background, is capable of simultaneously managing multiple products and technology areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical, including the ability to create and effectively present product plans and roadmaps to diverse audiences. Key responsibilities include: Directing a comprehensive product strategy from product conception and definition through end of life. Defining the requirements and interdependencies of assigned products and technology areas. Working with proposal teams to prepare responses to customer RFPs. Establishing regular communications with upper management and other stakeholders regarding products and technology areas. Interacting with Engineering, Program Management, Business Development and other internal functional groups as required to ensure alignment and accomplish objectives as the product(s) and/or product line(s) move through their lifecycle. A successful applicant must have excellent interpersonal, teamwork, mentoring, and organizational skills, as well as proven Product Management skills with an emphasis on Qualcomm products, technologies, roadmaps, and ecosystems with advanced knowledge of internal Qualcomm systems and an extensive network of Product Management contacts within the company. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • A current or recent Top Secret (TS/SI) security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or MBA.
  • 10+ years of Product Management or related work experience managing complete lifecycle of products from concept to launch, defining product requirements and working with cross-functional teams, both technical and non-technical.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 3+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • Experience within the Wireless Telecommunications industry, including Modem, Location, AI, Compute, and other technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies gaps in market based on complex analyses of market, customer, technology, and other ecosystem demands and provides this information to guide design conversations.
  • Leads team collaboration in the creation of product plans for development of new and complex products to ensure they are appropriate given business direction and asks appropriate questions to understand relevance of program to roadmap.
  • Markets new and complex products and technologies through technical marketing opportunities and drives product launch efforts.
  • Prepares and delivers highly complex technical presentations regarding a product roadmap that explains and demonstrates products managed to customers.
  • Translates customer feedback and external environment into potential changes for the differentiated product roadmap and communicates this to senior leaders.
  • Directs and oversees the development of highly complex products or new products areas and services, independently; maintains communication with individuals across functional teams.
  • Completes product development and definition activities for a new or highly complex, owned product, including determination of cost and impact, and interacts with sales team to generate forecasts.
  • Holds self and team(s) accountable for remaining up to date on competitors, technological advances, and the product ecosystem and taking the lead on development and design innovation of new and complex products to articulate differentiation of products to customer and identify trends.
  • Communicates regularly with leadership following a communication plan to ensure cross-functional understanding of product plans for a product line.
  • Ensures successful cross-functional collaboration by ensuring that agreed upon KPIs and specifications are met for a new, complex product(s), upon delivery by engineering team.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop product goals (e.g., performance, cost, timeline, customer schedules), discuss product feasibility, and facilitate cross-functional decision making for products they own.
