About the position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QTI) is in search of a Staff Product Manager with experience in developing Linux-based Operating Systems or large-scale Open-Source projects. As part of the Technology Planning and Edge Solutions (TPE) business unit, you will collaborate with other QTI business units to gather product and market requirements, define a strategic Linux software platform, drive execution, and track metrics of success. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in advancing Qualcomm's growth in adjacent markets including Industrial IoT, Cloud, Automotive, and Infrastructure through open-source leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of open source to develop a foundational Linux software platform.
  • Develop software product and functional requirements for Qualcomm Linux by incorporating feedback from various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in technical discussions with engineering peers to make informed trade-off decisions and determine the optimal course of action that promotes developer adoption of Qualcomm platforms.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of market demands within the Linux ecosystem to identify gaps and offer recommendations for addressing these gaps in product roadmaps.
  • Coordinate with other Product Management teams within TPE and across other business units to maximize leverage and return on investment from software development.
  • Confirm that software and evaluation kit definition is adequately supported by the open-source community.
  • Proficiency working with and providing critical feedback to development teams through hands on use of a Linux/Windows/MacOS host attached to ARM64-based evaluation kits, using tools and SDKs provided to developers by QTI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering or computer science or MBA.
  • Product Management experience managing complete cycle of products from concept to launch, defining product requirements document, change requests and prioritization of feature requests.
  • Understanding of embedded software engineering principles.
  • Understanding of multimedia (camera, video, computer vision, audio, display, graphics) technology and frameworks based on Linux.
  • Customer engagement experience with understanding of entire product cycle from definition to commercialization to maintenance.
  • Understanding of toolchains, package policies, boot flow, open-source frameworks, kernel and upstreaming procedures, containers, orchestration and virtualization.
  • Direct experience with OEMs, OS vendors, ISVs, open-source community and product sustenance.
