Staff Product Designer

Spoke
Remote

About The Position

Do you do your best work when someone trusts you and gets out of the way? Spoke is that kind of place. Small team, flat structure, fully remote, no politics, and enough ambiguity to keep things interesting. We're independent and profitable, which means we build for the long term, not the next funding round. Design has been part of how we solve problems since day one, which means you'll be influencing product direction, pushing back on ideas that aren't right, and building things you actually believe in. We're a small team of people who care deeply about craft, and because we're innovators and builders at heart, there's room to explore and experiment rather than just ship to a roadmap. If you know your craft inside out, are good at figuring out the best path forward when things are complex, and want to do some of the best work of your career, we’d love to hear from you. Work/life at Spoke £110,000 salary + equity + company performance bonus Fully remote with asynchronous, flexible working Very few meetings (on average, around one per week) 32 days paid time off 3 months paid parental leave We make time to get together properly, too: One fully-funded company retreat each year in a 5-star location (this year, we’ve rented our own château in France) A budget for smaller, localized, in-person team meet-ups Have the tools, space, and support to do your best work: £3,200 every three years for a new laptop £500 a year towards tech and equipment for your home office £1,000 a year for learning and development £1,000 a year for conferences £1,000 a year for wellbeing 14 days per year dedicated to learning 💫 Visit our Careers Page or read our Public Handbook to learn more, and watch this video to see what the team has to say about working at Spoke→ What you will be doing Joining our team of four product designers to work on either Spoke Dispatch as it evolves from an early-stage product into a mature, enterprise-ready platform, or our flagship product, Spoke Route Planner , a tool designed to simplify and streamline the work of professional delivery drivers. Tackling complex, high-impact problems with real space to shape how we solve them, building something thoughtful, clear, and genuinely useful. Evolving the product’s structure as new features are added, keeping it intuitive as it becomes more powerful, and moving quickly without sacrificing quality. Working across discovery, scoping, and design, creating specs in Figma and using Chrome dev tools to understand what’s happening in the product. Contributing to a genuinely product-led company, where success is measured by whether customers recommend us because the product works well.

Requirements

  • Have spent several years designing mobile apps, software, or power-user tools
  • Enjoy solving complex problems and building products that are genuinely enjoyable to use
  • Like owning projects end to end — from speaking to users and exploring problems through to designing solutions and tracking their impact
  • Actively seek and happily receive feedback, adapting your thinking, and iterating toward the best outcome. And comfortable giving feedback, too.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, experiment when needed, and are willing to advocate for what you believe is right
  • Are experienced in prototyping in Figma (and, ideally, beyond — whether that’s AI tools, HTML/CSS)
  • Enjoy working autonomously, and know when to trust your judgement and when to gather more data.
