Staff / Principal Full Stack Engineer

Chamber CardioWashington, DC
Remote

About The Position

The Staff / Principal Full Stack Engineer will play a central role in designing and building Chamber’s core application platform. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys solving complex product and data challenges, and is excited to build systems that make a difference in healthcare. This role will help design and build the web applications that power Chamber’s operational tools for care teams and healthcare providers. These applications support real-time cardiology insights and value-based care workflows, combining clinical data, analytics, and AI-assisted features. The role will work across the stack—from modern web interfaces to backend services and API integrations—partnering closely with product, data, and infrastructure engineers to deliver reliable, high-impact software. This role will have a meaningful influence on application architecture, engineering practices, and the evolution of Chamber’s product platform.

Requirements

  • Strong full-stack engineering expertise. Extensive experience building modern web applications, spanning frontend systems, backend services, and API design.
  • Modern frontend development. Strong experience building production applications with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. Able to design maintainable component architectures and deliver high-quality user interfaces.
  • Backend systems and service design. Experience designing and implementing backend services and APIs in Node.js or similar environments. Able to build reliable services that support complex workflows and data interactions.
  • Workflow-oriented product development. Experience building applications that support operational workflows, stateful processes, and real-world user interactions.
  • Collaborative engineering mindset. Able to work effectively within a small, senior engineering team, contributing ideas, shaping architecture, and collaborating closely with product and data partners.
  • Startup ownership mindset. Comfortable operating in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environments, taking ownership of meaningful systems and helping drive solutions from concept through production.
  • 8–12 years of experience in software engineering with significant full-stack development experience
  • Proven experience designing and building production web applications
  • Strong experience with React, Next.js, and TypeScript
  • Experience building backend services using Node.js or similar platforms
  • Experience designing APIs and implementing application business logic
  • Experience working with cloud-based systems (AWS preferred)
  • Experience building applications that interact with external APIs or data platforms
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Must be based in the U.S. and able to align with Eastern Time working hours

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with healthcare data platforms or healthcare technology systems
  • Familiarity with FHIR or healthcare interoperability standards
  • Experience integrating AI-powered functionality into production applications
  • Experience working in HIPAA- or SOC2-compliant environments

Responsibilities

  • Design and build Chamber’s core web applications. Develop and evolve the full-stack systems that power Chamber’s operational tools for care teams and providers. Build scalable application components that support complex healthcare workflows and large volumes of clinical and operational data.
  • Build modern, high-quality web interfaces. Design and implement intuitive user experiences using React, Next.js, and Tailwind. Translate complex workflows and analytics into usable and reliable tools for clinicians and care operations teams.
  • Develop backend services and application logic. Build and maintain Node.js and AWS lambda services that power application workflows, APIs, and integrations. Implement business logic and application services that interact with Chamber’s healthcare data systems, including FHIR-based platforms.
  • Integrate data and AI-powered capabilities. Collaborate with others to integrate analytics and AI-powered features into the application layer. Apply LLM-powered functionality where it meaningfully improves workflows and insights for care teams.
