If you're ready to meet the moment with innovation, curiosity, and excellence, there's a place for you here Job Title: Principal Developer Platform Architect Focus: Developer Productivity, from local dev to build & test pipelines to release readiness, with AI enablement at every stage. Role Summary: You are the architect of the "Developer Inner Loop.", reporting directly to the Head of Developer Platform or the SVP of Engineering. Your objective is to create a frictionless, world-class developer experience for 500+ Alteryx Engineers. By integrating CI/CD, testing infrastructure, and AI-powered tooling into a cohesive ecosystem, you will empower our product teams to ship with unprecedented speed, precision, and confidence.

Requirements

  • Distinguished/Principal: 10+
  • Lead/Senior/Staff: 5+

Nice To Haves

  • Microservices deployment on Kubernetes (AWS, GCP, Azure), with various strategies (canary, blue-green etc)
  • Building efficient CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins) to automate testing and deployment.
  • GitOps, ArgoCD, local dev and build tooling (such as Gradle/Bazel)

Responsibilities

  • SDLC Strategy: Redesign the end-to-end software delivery lifecycle to minimize friction. Focus on creating seamless transitions from local development to production through standardized pipelines and ephemeral environment strategies.
  • Shift-Left Quality & Governance: Drive the evolution of our testing paradigm. Architect a platform that enables product engineering teams to own component-level quality, supported by a robust, high-performance, and governed suite of automated e2e tests.
  • AI-Enabled Engineering: Lead the integration of AI tools and frameworks into our development workflow. Identify opportunities to use GenAI and agentic workflows to automate routine engineering tasks, debugging, and quality checks.
  • Platform Experience & Metrics: Define the "Trust Metrics" that track our success. Use developer productivity data and system health metrics to identify bottlenecks, guide technical debt remediation, and continuously improve the daily life of our engineers.
