About The Position

As a Staff PLM Specialist at General Motors, you’ll take the lead in implementing and optimizing Teamcenter PLM for our in-house designed electronics modules. You’ll serve as a critical bridge between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and IT - ensuring seamless data management and full lifecycle traceability across internal and external stakeholders. If you have a strong background in PLM systems, electronic hardware design, and contract manufacturing workflows, this is your opportunity to shape the digital infrastructure behind GM’s cutting-edge electronics platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience implementing and managing PLM systems, including at least 2 years with Siemens Teamcenter
  • Demonstrated experience in electronics hardware design environments, including schematic capture, PCB layout, mechanical CAD/drawings, embedded software/firmware release processes, and BOM management
  • Strong understanding of hardware engineering release processes, change management, version control, and configuration management
  • Experience integrating PLM systems with CAD tools, specifically Siemens Xpedition and NX
  • High attention to detail, with excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Familiarity with PCBA and electro-mechanical contract manufacturing workflows, including data exchange formats such as ODB++ and Gerber
  • Experience implementing Teamcenter PLM within the automotive industry—either at a Tier 1 supplier or OEM
  • Exposure to other PLM platforms used in high-tech hardware development and manufacturing environments (e.g., Agile, Arena, Windchill)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and scaling of Teamcenter PLM to support electronics module development and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and program managers to define and implement data models and workflows for design release, engineering changes (ECR/ECO), manufacturing updates, and build deviations.
  • Work with IT to establish secure, role-based access controls tailored to internal design teams and contract manufacturing (CM) partners.
  • Support hardware engineering and program management in releasing builds to CMs, ensuring EE/ME BOM accuracy and alignment with embedded software for high-quality production.
  • Create a structured part numbering system from scratch and lead the migration of legacy BOMs into Teamcenter.
  • Maintain and evolve the system as the product portfolio grows.
  • Manage BOM structures, part libraries, design documentation, and lifecycle states to ensure data integrity and traceability across Teamcenter, Xpedition, and NX environments.
  • Develop training materials and lead onboarding sessions for internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Monitor system performance, proactively troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality protocols.
