Impinj is seeking a Staff Platform Systems Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with an internal interdisciplinary team to research, develop and test innovative RFID readers and use case algorithms that form the building blocks of Impinj's RFID Solutions. Working side-by-side with Platform Firmware, Software, Hardware and Test teams, you will design, develop and test the computation layers and algorithms that are the foundation of the integrated platform that drive all our RFID Solutions. Our platform of tags, readers, on-reader software and cloud software is what allows us to give a digital identity and complete traceability to billions of everyday items.   • Leverage your communication systems and signal and data processing experience to research and develop RFID solution systems and algorithms to address the most challenging RFID use cases.
  • Pioneer new RFID applications leveraging such algorithms to help customers solve real world problems across different use cases and industries.
  • Partner with members of our platform system, software, and hardware teams to design and test innovative new RFID reader and gateway solutions.
  • Collaborate with enterprise customers and outside partners to develop and deploy novel RFID solutions based on the Impinj platform.
  • Create proof of concept demonstrations for customers to show potential uses of our RFID platform.
  • Help pioneer RFID uses and applications of our platform in ways which have yet to be imagined.
  • Dive deep into large-scale data to assess performance, building models of system behaviors, scaling into algorithmic and machine learning applications.
  • Leverage the insights derived from data coming from enterprise customer deployments to assess and improve system performance and build system behavior models.
  • Operate with a hybrid working environment with a few days of the week spent at our Lab in North Beacon Hill and/or our office in South Lake Union with the rest of the time working from home.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience working in related fields.
  • Strong understanding of communication systems, basic algorithms, and signal processing, both in theory and in practical applications.
  • Proficient in programming using Matlab, Python, or C/C++
  • Proficient using standard test and measurement equipment including spectrum analyzers, power meters, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience in at least one object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, or Java.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile development process.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences and be able to adjust your communication style accordingly.
  • Experience in data analytics, statistical analysis, forecasting and modeling and data visualization tools.
  • The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $129,000 - $200,000.
  • Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
  • Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
