The Nuclear Medicine Physician will provide services to VA North Texas Health Care System - Dallas VA Medical Center and Fort Worth Outpatient Clinic The responsibility of the physician includes but is not limited to: Nuclear Medicine Core privileges include: Static - planar - limited - whole body - quantitative - SPECT - SPECT/CT - dynamic - and augmented procedures for all General Nuclear Medicine Exams - including: Bone Scan - Gallium Imaging - Indium Imaging - Iodine Imaging - Gastric Emptying Exam - Liver/Spleen Imaging - Lung Perfusion Imaging - Lung Ventilation Imaging - Non-invasive Shunt Study - Renal Scan - Thyroid Scan - Thyroid Uptake Study - Hepatic Hemangioma Study - Hepatobiliary Imaging - Brain Imaging - Somatostatin Receptor Imaging - Infection Imaging - Trauma Imaging - Tumor Imaging - Lymphoscintigraphy - Marrow Imaging - Meckels Scan - GI Bleed Study - Parathyroid Imaging - Central DXA - Peripheral DXA - Fracture Risk Assessment - Trabecular Bone Scoring - Body Composition Analysis - and Whole Body DXA Non-Routine Nuclear Medicine Core privileges include: Static - planar - limited - whole body - quantitative - SPECT - SPECT/CT - dynamic - and augmented procedures for all Non-Routine Nuclear Medicine Exams - including: Radionuclide Cisternography - CSF Leak Study - Bremsstrahlung Imaging - Testicular Scan - MIBG Study - Dopamine Transporter Imaging - Radioimmunoscintigraphy - Radiobioassay - Invasive Shunt Study - Anatomic or Functional Imaging-based Volumetry - Lung Shunt Fraction Assessment Molecular Imaging Core privileges include: PET - SPECT/CT - multi-modality fusion - quantitative analyses - and PET/CT - Positron-Based Imaging - Oncologic - PET or PET/CT - Treatment Planning including 4D Positron Imaging - Positron-Based Imaging - Cardiovascular - Positron-Based Tumor Localization & Characterization - Molecular Breast Imaging - Position-Based Imaging Neurology - Positron-Based Imaging Infection/Inflammation - Position-Based Imaging Musculoskeletal Nuclear Medicine Therapy Core privileges include: Nuclear Medicine Therapy-related patient management - Treatment of Hyperthyroidism - Treatment of Thyroid Cancer - Nuclear Embolization - Radioimmunotherapy - Treatment of Neuroendocrine Tumors - Treatment Bone Metastases - Palliative Therapy for Symptomatic Skeletal Lesions - Radiation Treatment Planning - Post-Therapy Dosimetry Nuclear Cardiology Core privileges include: Exercise Stress Testing - Pharmacologic Stress Testing - Vasodilatory - Pharmacologic Stress Testing - Inotropic - Myocardial Perfusion Imaging - Cardiac Imaging Quantitative Analyses - Neurocardiac Imaging - Radionuclide Ventriculography (MUGA) - and Myocardial Viability Exam

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
  • Language: Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed
  • License/Registration: Current - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of Columbia
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.)
  • Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - OR (2) Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) -OR (3) Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences
