The pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution, patient counseling and teaching. The role involves interpreting medication orders, reviewing drug therapies for contraindications and appropriateness, and providing clinical consultation and drug information to practitioners and patients. The pharmacist also sustains the hospital formulary, maintains knowledge of pharmacy laws, supervises pharmacy support personnel, and oversees pharmacy operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Supervisor. The position requires accurate dispensing of medications and preparation of sterile admixtures, including chemotherapy and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN).
