About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist supports multiple hospitals across several states by using remote technology to deliver high‑quality clinical pharmacy services. This role works closely with clinicians to improve patient care, ensure safe medication use, and comply with all Cigna and client hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.S.) required. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred.
  • 2+ years of inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid pharmacist licenses for VA required
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as business needs (e.g., FL, TX, NC).
  • Reliable high‑speed internet (cable or fiber).
  • Strong knowledge of formulary and P&T procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with client/server systems (Epic, Center, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, internet applications, and email.
  • If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

Responsibilities

  • Perform remote order entry, order and drug verification, and patient counseling (as required).
  • Review and approve medication orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Conduct and document clinical interventions in accordance with client and Cigna policies.
  • Support a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with physicians, nurses, patients, and team members.
  • Provide timely and accurate drug information regarding dosing, interactions, compatibilities, and medical considerations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of inpatient medication management (IV fluids, admixture, TPN, drips, antibiotics, chemotherapy).
  • Understand special considerations for pediatric, geriatric, pregnant/nursing, renal/hepatic impairment, and HIV patients.
  • Identify therapeutic duplications and medication-related issues and offer clinical recommendations.
  • Counsel patients and clinical staff on proper medication use.
  • Investigate medication variances and report findings within 48 hours.
  • Learn and use multiple pharmacy information systems (PISs).
  • Obtain and maintain multiple state licenses (VA and FL required).
  • Document all order reviews, interventions, and communications in the PLRX system before the end of each shift.
  • Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting during technical issues.
  • Navigate VPNs, PIS platforms, automation systems, and software such as Microsoft Office and Snagit.
  • Work with the Regional Trainer to complete new hire or new client training.
  • Maintain required credentials, access, licenses, and reciprocity.
  • Meet or exceed established productivity standards.
