We're growing fast and looking for teammates who want to help transform health insurance for the better. SUMMARY Provides pharmacy services to patients and medical practitioners. Receives, reviews, and fills prescriptions; dispenses pharmaceuticals; consults with patients and caregivers regarding the nature and use of drugs; trains and supervises personnel. Prepares and maintains all necessary records required by federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to the disbursement of pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Ability to supervise and train assigned staff.
  • Knowledge of drugs and their indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects, and proper administration.
  • Ability to perform basic patient assessments and referrals.
  • Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and analyze data.
  • Knowledge of patient care charts and patient histories.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D.; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Practice of professional pharmacy in a clinical pharmacy setting
  • Use of independent judgment in the provision of information and consultation to the public and health care professionals on the nature and use of drugs
  • Training and supervision of pharmacy interns and/or technical support staff
  • Utilization of a computerized pharmacy data entry system
  • Current and active Pharmacist Licensure issued by the Texas Board of Pharmacy.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, compounds, prepares and/or oversees the preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients or medical practitioners; makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals.
  • Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate.
  • Oversees the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications to various offices, clinics, and other sites.
  • Provides education, guidance and training to students, pharmacy interns, and or trainees during course of work and monitors performance.
  • Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals.
  • May take patient's histories as required; makes initial clinical assessments and refers patients to appropriate clinicians.
  • Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
  • Follows established pharmacy policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Works collaboratively with the pharmacy team to oversee daily operations, guide pharmacy technicians, and uphold compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Serves as the responsible pharmacist on duty, ensuring oversight of all pharmacy operations, staff performance, and workflow management during assigned shifts.
  • Ensures adherence to all pharmacy policies and procedures established by the Pharmacy Director, promptly addressing and reporting any deviations or compliance concerns
  • May be required to obtain and maintain pharmacist licensure in additional states as directed by pharmacy leadership where Curative Pharmacy conducts business or serves patients, in accordance with company policy and applicable state board of pharmacy requirements. (Will be given time each week for studying purposes)
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
