About The Position

As a per diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist you will play a vital role in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a direct impact by ensuring the accuracy of medication orders, verifying technician-prepared products, and safeguarding controlled substances. You will contribute to a high-performing team by mentoring new staff, maintaining seamless daily operations, and supporting the Director in optimizing pharmacy performance. Schedule: This per diem, nonexempt position will provide coverage on an as-needed basis up to 19 hours/week. There are no regularly scheduled hours for this position. Location: Aurora Behavioral Health in Tempe, AZ. About the Pharmacy: Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, and utilizes CPOE, Pyxis and Bestcare.

Requirements

Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy (PharmD preferred)
Current Arizona pharmacist license in good standing
Proven effective communications skills; verbal and written

Nice To Haves

Experience as a Pharmacist in a hospital setting
Experience with Pyxis machines

Responsibilities

Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
Ensure the secure storage, tracking, and maintenance of controlled substances
Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements
