Rutgers The State University is seeking a Staff Pharmacist in the Pharmacy -Rutgers Center for Recovery and Wellbeing of Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare. Under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager, the Staff Pharmacist performs a variety of professional and technical functions for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system. Responsible for reviewing physician orders and prescriptions, maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, responding to requests for drug information, checking technician work and delivering medication to the appropriate units as necessary.

  • Accurately profiles medication orders into the pharmacy information system
  • Accurately reflects medication orders from the written order received from the unit
  • Accurately enters the Outpatient prescriptions into the pharmacy information system.
  • Fills patient medication envelopes with the correct medication from computer labels prior to each scheduled delivery.
  • Delivers medications to the proper nursing units, ancillary departments.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. Degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy.
  • New Jersey Pharmacy License required.
  • Working knowledge of psychiatric medications required.
  • Must be able to communicate with patients with behavioral issues.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in drug counseling for child, adolescent and geriatric inpatients and outpatients when required.
  • May need to work weekend and holiday hours.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check including finger printing is required.
  • Subject to random screens throughout employment.
  • Six (6) to twelve (12) months of pharmacy experience preferred.
