About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication as required to meet the needs of a long-term/post-acute care pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist must adhere to the company’s quality and customer service standards, policies and procedures, as well as the State and Federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evening, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience using FrameworkLTC
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills with English as the primary language.
  • Ability to work independently as well as working in a team environment, meets deadlines, establish priorities, and be flexible, work under pressure with multiple tasks.
  • Must have strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills, ability to problem solve.
  • This position must exhibit maturity in judgment
  • Current Pharmacist license active and in good standing in the state of practice
  • Bachelor’s degree or Pharmacy Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Minimum of two (2) year’s recent experience in an acute-care setting or one (1) year experience as a production pharmacist preferred (not required).

  • Management experience preferred
  • Experience and knowledge base of intravenous admixtures services and intravenous therapy desired.

Responsibilities

  • Verification for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders.
  • Check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling including emergency drug kits and IV medications
  • Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies)
  • Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs
  • Work with appropriate pharmacy technician in reconciling Controlled Substances perpetual inventory as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record
  • Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
  • Responsible for the flow of work and appropriate outcomes
