About The Position

The position involves preparing and delivering medications and information to healthcare providers and patients within a hospital setting, ensuring compliance with Maryland Board of Pharmacy Regulations and UM UCH policies. The role includes supervising technical staff, checking medication orders, and providing pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient population. The pharmacist will also engage in consultations and education regarding medication usage, participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds, and contribute to medication improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy; Doctorate of Pharmacy or hospital residency experience is desirable.
• Licensed or eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Maryland.
• Prior hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Ability to prioritize work assignments and complete duties within prescribed time frames.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Epic order verification system.
• Familiarity with pharmacokinetic monitoring and consultations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver medications and information to physicians, nurses, and patients within the hospital.
• Supervise technical staff in all phases of their duties.
• Check all orders, IV admixtures, repackaging of medications, and emergency medication supplies.
• Provide daily pharmaceutical care to patients through prevention and adverse drug reaction management.
• Participate in Epic order verification and pharmacokinetic consults.
• Transition patients to oral therapy and monitor target drug levels.
