Staff Nurse - Neuropsychiatry Unit (2JPW) Weekend Option Days
About The Position
2JPW is a 19-bed adult unit that provides care for patient with general psychiatric conditions, with a particular emphasis on thought disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, and other psychotic disorders. 2JPW also provides specialized services for adult patients with an intellectual disability and co-occurring mental illness (IDMI) who display challenging behaviors. The interdisciplinary treatment team includes physicians, psychologists, advanced practice providers, master-level therapists, nurses, social workers, dieticians, occupational and recreational therapists, behavioral health consultants, and a cadre of specialists who collaborate with the treatment team to support the IDMI population. Percent of Time: 60% Schedule : Weekend Option Days, 0700-1930.
Requirements
- An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
- General computer skills are required
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Nice To Haves
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
- Knowledge of university and hospital policies and procedures is desired
