About The Position

UPMC McKeesport is hiring a full-time Staff Nurse to help support the 4 M General Surgery Unit! The 4M Unit has a large focus on teamwork and collaboration and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their patients! This full-time position is part of the Weekend Program, requiring candidates to work 2 12-hour weekend shifts. UPMC's Weekend Program offers an additional 25% added to the base rate for unit-based RNs in the program. Requirements

• Minimum 6 months experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
• Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles and applies in teaching of patients, families, students and new staff.
• Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.
• Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.
• Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts.
• Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care.
