About the position
The Staff Nurse in Same Day Surgery PRN is responsible for performing comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, social, and psychological status. This includes evaluating information from various members of the interdisciplinary team, including patients, families, physicians, and support staff. The nurse will collaboratively develop individualized plans of care using assessment information and critical thinking skills, ensuring active involvement from patients, families, and the healthcare team. The role involves directing the interdisciplinary care team, providing or delegating care consistent with the plan, and evaluating patient responses to interventions. The nurse is also expected to promote the nursing profession and integrate legal and ethical standards into practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform appropriate assessments of patients' physical, social, and psychological status.
- Evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members including patients, families, and physicians.
- Collaboratively develop individualized plans of care using assessment information.
- Involve patients, families, and the healthcare team in the planning process.
- Direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation and collaboration.
- Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care and professional guidelines.
- Evaluate patient responses to interventions and revise plans of care as necessary.
- Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others.
- Comply with legal and ethical standards in nursing practice.
Requirements
- Current RN License in state of practice.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- ACLS Certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Experience in Same Day Surgery.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
