About The Position

The University of New Mexico Student Health & Counseling clinic (SHAC) is recruiting for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented Registered Nurse to provide professional nurse services to a diverse university student body in our Allergy & Immunization and General Medicine (primary care and ASAP care) clinics. A background in urgent care, public health, and/or primary care desired. The Student Health & Counseling Center is located at the center of campus. The clinic provides comprehensive primary and mental health services and has a laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, case management, and health promotions on site. Other medical services provided are same day appointments, travel medicine, immunizations, and sports medicine. Requirements

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program; no previous experience required.
  • Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of NM, who can work effectively as a member of a team, prioritize multiple demands, and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Experience in a variety of clinical settings including public health, urgent care, primary care, and sexual health.
  • Work effectively with a largely adolescent/young adult population.
  • Competent in IV starts /administer IV medications.
  • Willing and able to work (5) five days a week, Monday- Friday, 8AM-5PM, no weekends or holidays and no on-call.
