Requirements

  • Must possess demonstrated communication skills
  • Must display comprehensive and current knowledge of nursing theory and nursing care in the free standing ambulatory endoscopy unit.
  • Adequate understanding of a wide variety of medical/surgical terminology and pathophysiology, endoscopy procedures and required patient preparations.
  • Skilled in venipuncture.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique.
  • Knowledge of basic infection control practices.
  • Understanding of proper positioning techniques, and sedating agents' effects, including conscious sedation.
  • Knowledge of endoscopy instruments and equipment to include the use, handling and care, especially of endoscopy equipment
  • Must be able to work a minimum of two days in a pay period.
