About The Position
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Staff Nurse for the Adult Diagnostic Treatment Center, located in Avenel, NJ. The UCHC Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus; works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment; frequently functions guided by nursing protocols; and functions as a team leader as assigned. Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Nursing ( BSN ) or its equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of the inmatepatient including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family within the framework established by the correctional system.
- Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships.
- Attends appropriate in-services and continuing education offerings to obtain and maintain necessary skills.
- Participates in offering education to inmates, security officers and other members of the health care team.
- Participates in in-service meetings and educational programs either as attendee or as a teacher, as arranged and approved by supervisor.
